Velo Palmetto 2025

I am honored to say that I am riding in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Velo Palmetto Cycle Event. I am writing today to ask for your support in my efforts to help LLS cure blood cancers. Every dollar I raise leading up to the event will help LLS fund groundbreaking research for cures, provide free patient support, and advocate for the best interests of patients. 

I will be riding in beautiful Greenville, South Caroline alongside 50 selected passionate, cancer-fighting athletes. My personal goal is to raise $20,000 which will go directly to LLS in support of its longstanding goal: a world without blood cancers.

 

As a medical Oncologist and Hematologist, I have witnessed first-hand the debilitating effects that leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma can have on those who suffer from these blood cancers, and on the friends and family who care for and nurture their loved ones. I found myself wanting to do more to raise awareness and funds for the mission, and Velo Palmetto is giving me that opportunity. 

 

There are many reasons to be proud to support LLS’s efforts.  For instance, approximately 40% of new cancer therapies approved by the FDA since 2000 were first approved for blood cancer patients.  And many of these LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but they have also led to a tremendous number of advances in many other types of cancers, like bone, brain, and breast. Your contribution will have rippling effects across the entire cancer landscape. 

This is an organization that is making an impact with the dollars it raises, and I’m proud to be associated with LLS.
