Last Fall I was part of a group of cyclists who committed to riding in the Velo Palmetto, a 3 day fundraising event covering 175 miles in and around Greenville, SC to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society – however, Hurricane Helene disrupted those plans. The damage was too great to stage the ride, but in spite of that we raised over $250,000 as a group – thanks to people like you!
This Fall we’re counting on better weather, and I will be there once again to make an impact and honor Cindy Barbour, who saved my life after a 2021 bike wreck, and Greg Williams, a good friend who has lived with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia for 22 years. But in addition, I’m dedicating my ride to the memory of a best buddy who provided unwavering joy and devotion all his years but passed away from Lymphoma way before his time – my dog Dodger. He was diagnosed at 6 years old, and lost his battle a year later in 2020. As hard as that was, just imagine what families who have loved ones with cancers go through.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) makes an incredible impact in the fight against blood cancers. Unlike many organizations, LLS isn’t reliant on federal funding, which allows them to make bold, strategic investments in some of the most promising research and scientists in the field. LLS is not only fueling groundbreaking science but also standing up for patients. Their teams in the Office of Public Policy & Community Outreach are on the ground across the country – connecting directly with patients, supporting families, and advocating with lawmakers to push for better access to care and treatment. LLS-funded scientists are teaming up with partners nationwide to make sure every dollar goes as far as possible to improve outcomes for those battling cancer.
By riding in Velo Palmetto, I’m proud to be a part of this movement. Join me in taking action for patients! Together, we can carry forward LLS’s powerful legacy of advocacy, research, and hope for everyone affected by blood cancer.
Thank you in advance for supporting this incredible need. I’ll keep you posted on how my fundraising campaign goes. I’m grateful for your friendship and support.
