Hi everyone!
My name is Owen, and I’m 8 years old. I want to tell you about something that happened to me, and why I’m asking for your help.
When I was 5, I got really sick. My back hurt so much that I couldn’t lay down or sleep. It turned out I had cancer—something called Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. I had to go to Primary Children’s Hospital and get chemotherapy for four months.
A lot of kids might have been really sad or scared. And yeah, sometimes I was. But I decided I was going to kick cancer’s butt. I made jokes with the doctors and nurses. I even put on “Silly Shows” for them to make them laugh. And you know what? It made me feel brave.
In May 2023, I rang the bell. That meant I was cancer-free! It was the best day ever.
I’m really lucky. I got good doctors and medicines that helped me get better. But lots of other kids fighting cancer aren’t as lucky. They need better treatments—safer ones that don’t hurt them as much. That’s why I’m asking you to help.
There’s something called The Dare to Dream Project. It helps doctors create safer medicines just for kids with cancer. It’s working on something called PedAL that tests new treatments matched to each kid’s unique body. That’s really cool!
My mom, dad, brother Wilder and I are skiing at Shred for Red on March 28th to raise money for this project. Will you help by donating to my page? Even a little bit helps. Every dollar goes to helping kids like me get better.
You can watch us ski, or you can just donate. If you raise $1000 or more (hey kids its only $300 to fundraise!), you can come ski with us and have fun at the party after! But even if you can’t ski, your donation is super important.
Join my team and start fundraising OR Donate to my page!
Thank you so much for helping me and all the other kids fighting cancer. You’re awesome!
Your friend,
Owen
