Welcome to my fundraising page. I am reaching out to you because I am deeply committed to the mission of finding cures for blood cancer, and I need your support.
The statistics surrounding blood cancer are alarming. Every three minutes, someone in the United States receives this diagnosis. To put that into perspective, in the short time it might have taken you to prepare your morning coffee or tea, two more individuals were diagnosed. Tragically, every nine minutes, someone loses their life to blood cancer.
This cause is particularly close to my heart due to my family's long history with this disease. In the mid-1950s, my sister Mary Beth passed away from leukemia before I had the chance to meet her. In the 1970s, we lost my Dad to Hodgkin's Lymphoma. My brother Dan was also diagnosed with Hodgkin's in the late 1980s, and thankfully, he is alive and well today. This incredible outcome is a testament to the advancements in research that have made Hodgkin's Lymphoma largely curable. In 2004, I personally faced an advanced case of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I am incredibly fortunate to be alive today, thanks in part to the research funded by Blood Cancer United (formerly The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society). A crucial component of my chemotherapy treatment was a drug called Rituximab, which specifically targets and destroys cancerous blood cells.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere I thank you for your support!
