Hello Friends,
My Dad, Jay Essington, was a distance cyclist and completed this exact ride on June 1, 2002. This was his favorite ride. My Dad later contracted Leukemia and after fighting the good fight, he went home to Heaven in July 2013. He is still missed by many. After his passing, I started riding for physical and mental health. I later started combining my love of cycling with fundraising to end cancer. On June 1, 2025, I will be doing this ride to honor my Dad and to raise funds and awareness to end blood cancers. I will ride 100 miles around Lake Tahoe which has lots of climbs (especially for a sea-level, flat-lander like me)! It will be an emotional day that will be filled with joy. I am excited!
Many Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers. They're even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. LLS funded drugs are now being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis.
We really are changing the face of blood cancer!
All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS research but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.
Please visit my Web site often and bring friends who would also like to donate!
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere I thank you for your support!
