2026 marks my 23rd year of fundraising for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Those that know me, know that this cause is incredibly important to me and my family, based on our daughter Faith's leukemia diagnosis at age 2.
2026 also marks a few important changes for LLS:
LLS is now Blood Cancer United. Although a major brand/name change can be challenging, I actually love this update because the name Blood Cancer United embodies all blood cancers, not just leukemia and lymphoma.
Another update: For the past six years my family and I have been fundraising for LLS' Shred for Red event. Unfortunately, this year's event fell over dates that we were out of town. We certainly missed being at the event this year, but it has opened up a new fundraising opportunity for me within Blood Cancer United called the Dare To Dream Project.
Dare to Dream focuses solely on pediatric blood cancers. Blood Cancer United is the first entity of its kind to champion the idea that children are different than adults and their blood cancers need to be treated differently: a one-size treatment does not fit all. We experienced this first-hand with Faith's chemotherapy protocol when she was battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. The protocol was not specific to a child whose organs and body are still growing and developing; rather, the adult protocol was adjusted based on a smaller body weight. We are so unbelievably grateful for the treatment Faith received (and the outcome), but there are so many families that are left to deal with the devastating side effects that adult-approved protocols and drugs can leave on a young and developing body.
The Dare to Dream Project is a bold and urgent $175 million initiative to transform treatment and care for kids with blood cancer. This international Master Clinical Trial is currently underway in 11 countries, all under the direction and funding of Blood Cancer United. 100% of donations made on this page will go directly to the Dare to Dream Project. Every donation brings us closer to safer, more effective treatments designed just for our little ones. Together, we can give kids with cancer the brighter future they deserve.
