The Dude Hates Cancer, Philadelphia’s longest-running charity bowling tournament is back. I realize that your time, attention and financial support are precious and valuable, and I wouldn't ask if I didn't believe that our cause is worth it. I need your help this year to reach our fundraising goal of $70,000 to fight blood cancers.
This year, I am fundraising because of Cadence. Please read her story told her Mother below:
March 28, 2018. The day that changed our lives forever. “Your daughter has Leukemia”. Cadence’s initial symptoms over the course of a few weeks began with occasional back ache, leg or arm pain that would come and go. Then the high fevers came. Multiple doctor visits/evaluations, calls and even a trip to urgent care, momma demanding labs, did we finally get the devastating results. Hemoglobin 5, platelets 35. White count normal. Labs sent us straight to CHOP where we met with hematology and oncology. We were admitted and didn’t leave the hospital for one month straight that first round. The night of diagnosis, she received a central line, chemotherapy, and a bone marrow biopsy and spinal tap. This kid underwent 3 rounds of intense chemotherapy, had two stem cell transplants: the first, her father being the donor..it failed 4 days later..another round of bone marrow suppression and another donor 9/10 match became available. A 39 year old female who donated her stem cells to Cadence October 18, 2018. Cadence’s course of treatment was complicated by multiple central line infections, sepsis 3 times, even an ICU stay. Our last admission at CHOP lasted 100 days straight. We were released the day before thanksgiving. In between rounds we would go to Cadences school and gather the teachers and students for support going into the next round. Our priority was always to keep Cadence’s spirits up, nutrition up, and strength up! We are happy to report Cadence has been Cancer free! In remission!! For 1 year now! Her transplant has been stable for 9 months! We are so very grateful and very blessed. Our prayers have been answered and we are so thankful to her donor and to her amazing oncology, transplant and infectious disease teams at CHOP not to mention her family, friends and supporters for helping throughout this journey!

2019 will be our 14th annual campaign in Philadelphia. Over the last 14 years, The Dude Hates Cancer has grown from a small fundraiser amongst friends into a multi-city, annual charity campaign for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Now, participants not only compete in a bowling tournament, they spend months ahead of time fundraising, throwing their own individual events and being active as volunteers. Since inception, TDHC has raised over $700,000.
Below is a picture of our committee at least year's event and although we work tirelessly every day, we cannot raise these funds alone.
