The Philadelphia Chapter of The American Alpine Club is proud to host a benefit for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) with the East Coast premier of Hold Fast. The film catalogs the journey of legendary alpinist Conrad Anker and AAC Philadelphia Chapter Chair Alex Wildman as they both overcome serious medical issues and team up to climb El Capitan in Yosemite, California.

Show up at 6pm when the doors open to get raffle tickets for the amazing items that have been generously donated. The film starts at 7pm, followed by a behind the scenes look and Q&A with the subject of the film, Alex Wildman. Continue the good vibes with us afterwards at Tap House Logan Square from 9-midnight.

Hold Fast has had eight different film festivals screening both domestic and international. The film also received the 'Spirit of Adventure Award' this past year at the Adventure Film Fest in Boulder Colorado.

I'm so excited and humbled to be one of this years Honored Hero's for Big Climb Philly. This will be my 3rd year taking part of this event and I can't overstate how impactful it is. Thank you for clicking on whatever link got ya here and I hope you can find a way to get involved!

As Captain of team Hold Fast I hope to not only provide you with a way to get involved with Big Climb Philly, but to be a reminder that with hard work and a positive outlook, good outcomes are possible!

Team Hold Fast has two objectives:

- Show support for those affect by blood cancers

- Raise $10,000 that will be donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

OK, let’s get to work!

How to get involved!

- Join Team HOLD FAST! Click the JOIN TEAM tab to the right of the page and type in Hold Fast when you're asked what team you would like to join.

This is not only the best way to be a part of Big Climb Philly, but the collective power of many is a force to be reckoned with. To borrow a line from one of my other favorite Non-profits, The American Alpine Club, ‘Together, we’re stronger!’

The requirements are simple:

  • Pay a $35 registration fee (goes towards running the event)
  • Raise a minimum of $100. The money you raise goes directly to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and helps the team reach it’s $10K goal.
  • Show up on April 13th to walk/run the steps of the FMC Tower with the rest of Team Hold Fast!

Group training session can be found on the event site at the Big Climb Clinics or just this link!

Kick off event for Big Climb Philly will be held on Saturday, March 2nd @ Lincoln Financial Field. More info can be found here.

Can’t join Team Hold Fast but want to show support?

Help me to reach my fundraising goal of $5000 which helps Team Hold Fast to reach the ambitious goal of $10,000. All of the money raised, yes 100%,  goes to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. They have a simple mission, to cure blood cancers and and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

Mark your calendar for Sat April 6th for the Philadelphia Premiere of the The Film, 'Hold Fast', playing at the Academy of Natural Sciences!  Tickets on sale soon!

Hello, my name is, Alex Wildman. Thank you for taking the time to visit my page and give this a read. Any and all support makes a difference. Thank you.

At the start of 2016 I was diagnosed with stage 3 lymphoma. This diagnosis came two weeks before I was about to leave for a climbing trip to Patagonia. I had been training to climb some incredibly difficult mountains, but as I would soon learn, I would be applying my training to climb a mountain that had no rock.

While it was difficult for me to deal with such a diagnosis, I was very aware of the large toll it also took on my family and friends. I had also become aware that while we can’t always choose the things that happen to us, we can choose how we respond. Often my days have been positive, filled with purpose, and an awareness of how special this gift of life can be. Some days however, are hard, filled with doubt, fear, and a lack of control. I have found this flux of feelings to be overwhelming at times, leaving me lost and unsure of the next step. Yet a path forward exists.

Hold Fast, all storms pass.

This mantra, among many others, continues to help guide me towards hope. Hope of clean scans, hope of distant birthdays, and the hope for a cure. With amazing support from family and friends, treatment from Penn Medicine Abramson Cancer Center, and a positive outlook and I’m happy to say, I’m cancer free! Now it’s time for me to refocus my energy and passion towards helping others in their climb against cancer!

Big Climb Philly provides a way to help in the battle against blood cancers. Whether you’re making a donation, participating in the event, or helping to share this message, you can make a difference. I was lucky to participate in Big Climb Philly 2016 & 2018. I found the event uplifting, inspiring, and empowering. This year I’m excited to announce I’ll be Captain of Team, Hold Fast! Please consider joining my team, making a donation, or sharing this message. Seeing hundreds of people gather with a shared goal of fighting blood cancers helped me in ways that words don’t truly convey and that is why I climb.

Hold Fast.

Welcome To My Fundraising Page.

Please join me in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation to my fundraising campaign. Thanks to your support, my efforts, will help fund the therapies and treatments and help save lives today.

LLS's continued advancements over the years, are responsible for the blood cancer survival rate doubling and tripling; in some cases, the survival rate has even quadrupled.

And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers. They're even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. LLS funded drugs are now being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis.

We really are changing the face of blood cancer!

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS research but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.

Please visit my Web site often and bring friends who would also like to donate!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere I thank you for your support!
