Team Chilli Towner’s – Chillicothe, Ohio.
I am inviting you to please join me in supporting the sixth ANNUAL “Light the Night” walk. The walk supports the BLOOD CANCER COMMUNITY to rally behind everyone fighting this form or any form of cancer. All proceeds go to LLS (Leukemia & Lymphoma Society) “Light the Night” funding research to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. I personally have used their services and support during my clinical trial and continued journey to beat blood cancer.
The Chillicothe, Ohio walk is scheduled for Thursday October 12th. Location Picture This Gift Shop, 141 W. Water St. Chillicothe, Ohio. Registration 6:00 pm, walk / celebration at 6:30 pm. Walk is one mile in downtown Chillicothe, Ohio.
Why am I involved / my story in short form:
-
July 2014 diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (blood cancer). A day I heard one of the worst things you can hear – YOU HAVE CANCER.
-
The disease can be chronic or progress fast.
-
My disease progressed fast. I went from stage 0 at the time of diagnosis to stage 4 at the end of 2017.
-
February 2018, I started a new clinical trial at the James Cancer Center with Dr. Byrd and the team's help.
-
I moved 700 miles back to my hometown to receive care from the top doctor in the world for my type of blood cancer.
-
The LLS team helped secure one of the three clinical trial drugs my insurance company DID NOT APPROVE. The drug cost over $300,000.
-
I still have HOPE in beating this cancer. I am not in remission. My blood was at 93% leukemia cells at the start of the trial. The on-slot of trial drugs dropped my leukemia cells down to .04%. The leukemia has been slowly increasing in my blood as a percent. My leukemia cells continue to increase while taking the trial immunotherapy drug. I am still POSITIVE with HOPE for remission.
-
The LLS organization provided funding for my doctors' research in developing the immunotherapy drug I take.
-
YES, the drug that is prolonging / saving my life was developed by my doctor and funding supplied by LLS.
Money raised through Light the Night allows The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to fund treatments for patients who are suffering from all forms of blood cancers. Beating cancer is in their blood. Help defeat the darkness of cancer. Please consider donating today to continue to help provide HOPE for patients and their families across the country!
I own my life to GOD, my doctor and team, LLS, family, and friends for their support.
Thank you to ALL who supported my walk for the last five years.
Go GOD, GOD BLESS.
