Kadence's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser

Jan 21, 2023

Visionaries look to the future—and see infinite possibility.
They challenge the status quo—and make the impossible possible.
They boldly imagine a better world – and lead the charge to create it.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was built on that same vision - of a better world - one without blood cancers.

I am a visionary; I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help.

This year, I’m proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission. I've always had a love for philanthropy and helping others, when getting an amazing opportunity like this it's hard to say no. We have all been touched by someone with cancer. Being able to work on this campaign is an honor and we'll be able to help countless families, and educate our neighbors who don't know about the importance of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:

  • Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
  • Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
  • Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.

Please consider joining this fight by making a donation. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!

Thanks to your support, my efforts will help ensure this generation is the last to see cancer.

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!

Meet This Years Honored Hero Wyatt

Wyatt’s Story
Diagnosis: Philadelphia Positive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, HLH                                                                                                                                        Age: 17 years old

Wyatt was diagnosed in the fall of 2018 at just 14 years old. His first symptom was an unusual sore in his mouth that was not getting better. His mother Florenda took him to their primary care doctor where they ran a series of blood tests. Within 30 minutes of being home, Florenda got the call that Wyatt’s results were not what they hoped. That was the day Wyatt started his cancer journey. Wyatt began his journey enduring chemotherapy treatments and multiple hospital stays. In January 2020, Wyatt relapsed with a HLH, a potentially fatal condition in which white blood cells build up and damage the organs. However Wyatt is a fighter, and through his lengthy battle he can now say he is in his maintenance era.

Meet This Years Honored Hero Parker

Parker’s Story
Diagnosis: B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (Diagnosed- January 2022)

Age: 8 years old

Towards the end of December 2021, Parker came down with what we thought was a seasonal virus. She tested negative for all of the usual things (covid, flu, strep, etc.) and was diagnosed with tonsilitis. After 2 rounds of antibiotics, Parker was still having swollen lymph nodes and now a swollen face. After an ER visit on January 9, 2022 she was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. In Parker’s words “I was so sad and scared because I couldn’t play softball anymore. I was nervous because I didn’t know what was going to happen. I was heartbroken. My mom told me that God picked the strongest kid he knew so I could show all the other scared kids I could fight my cancer and win and that they would too. I’ve had surgeries, spinal taps, and tons of medicines, but still just Parker!”
