Hi my name is Amanda,                                               

 Four years ago my family received some very startling and troubling news. My grandfather was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a debilitating blood cancer that weakens bones. My grandfather feared that he may never be able to spend quality time with his loved ones or play his favorite pastime again, golf. While he still manages his cancer with chemotherapy, he is now strong enough to exercise and play golf again. My family and I can now play golf and enjoy other fun activities with him.

 I am currently a junior at Xavier College Prep. High School and play on my school's golf team. I have been nominated as a 2020 Students of the Year candidate for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). This is a seven week fundraising campaign from April 3 to May 22. My team, Ned’s Warriors, and I are working hard to reach our fundraising goal of $10,000. This donation will support the LLS as they research blood cancers and provide patient services. This donation will fund research that will save many lives like my grandfather’s. In order to reach our goal, we need your help! :)

 Why give to the LLS?  The LLS has invested almost $1.3 billion dollars into cancer research. This research helped the lives of many people, including my grandfather. In the last decade, over 40% of cancer treatments and drugs came from LLS funded research. This research is also used to advance cures for various other cancers such as breast and liver cancers. This research additionally is being used to help those affected by Alzheimer’s Disease and Multiple Sclerosis. With so much good coming from the LLS, why not donate?
