Hi, my name is Aleish! I'm a freshman and I am so excited & honored to be able to take on the challenge of Students Of The Year! Unfortunately, most everyone knows of cancer. My mom's aunts were diagnosed with breast cancer, and due to the lack of knowledge and resources of the disease, they passed away. It's truly heartbreaking and I never would want anyone to go through that experience. Thus, I'm so eager to begin my campaign in partnership with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society! 

When I'm not focusing on my studies or extracurriculars, I love to spend my time reading and listening to music. I have an ever-growing collection of books and my favourite genre is definitely romance with more of a dystopian and fantasy esque. I usually stick with listening to Taylor Swift or Disney music (especially since I love Disney! My favourite movies include Aladdin and Beauty & the Beast!) I don't watch a lot of TV, but my friend introduced me to my newfound favourite show, Criminal Minds. I also really like writing. I do dance (mainly ballet). My favourite animals are sea otters, my favourite colour is pink, I have an obsession of collecting and naming stuffed animals, and I have an unhealthy habit of drinking boba any chance I get. I also love spending time with my family and friends!

So, really, I'm just a normal teenage girl with a passion to help others! SOY is an amazing opportunity to do so, and I'm eager to see what my team, MYAC4Change, and I can accomplish! Stay tuned for more updates, and check out our team page! 

I have signed up to save lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and am working to raise as much as possible over the next 7 weeks. Every dollar raised counts as one vote for my campaign. The candidate(s) whose team tallies the most votes earns the prestigious title of Student or Students of the Year. Will you help me earn that title?
 
As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.
 
Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.
 
We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!
