Hello all, 

I want to elaborate more on my reasons for participating in this campaign. My candidacy is in memory of my grandmother, Irma Chavez. She battled multiple myeloma for five years and remained a fighter each and every day. For this reason, I chose the name "CUREageous" for my team to honor the bravery and strength of every patient who is fighting cancer; they are truly courageous. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) works to aid patients like my grandma in their fight against cancer, and the donations from my fundraising campaign will be put towards blood cancer research to eventually find a cure.

Hello!

My name is Jade Semaan and I am a Senior at Foothill High School. I'm so honored to be a Co-Candidate for Team CUREageous with my friends, Claire Poissonnier and Calissa Zamora, to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). Last Year, I was a team member on Team CUREators, along with my fellow classmates and I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity to lead a team of my own this year for the 2021 Students of the Year (SOY) Campaign. Many members of my family have been affected by cancer, so the work that LLS does for cancer patients is very important to me. Five years ago, my grandmother, Irma Chavez, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a disease that attacks plasma cells in the bone marrow. Unfortunately, my grandma lost her battle with blood cancer in September of 2020. This loss inspired me to take a stand against cancer and raise money to change the lives of patients everywhere. By fundraising for LLS, I hope to aid the organization in further cancer research while honoring the patients who have fought such hard battles.
