Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is one of the leading organizations for raising money for the fight against cancer. Since the start of the program, they have raised over a billion dollars towards cancer research.

When I was asked to be a part of Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) last year, I immediately knew that it was something I would love to do as it is something that’s very personal to me. In 2000, my dad was hit with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Disease (Lymphoma) in his mid-30s. After over a year of aggressive chemotherapy treatments and battling this cancer, he was able to beat it.

This year, instead of being a team member, I could not be happier to say I was given the opportunity to lead a team on my own. Our team, Team Hero, is made up of Braham Duncan, Rachel Spataro, Peyton Peterson, and Jack Rettig. Currently, we are all juniors at Newport Harbor High School.

For the next 7 weeks we will be working to raise money to finally kick cancer’s ass one last time. We will be fundraising, setting up/organizing events, creating awareness - all meaningful and important work to help fund important cancer research!
