I am so excited to share that I have created a campaign team, “6LPH,” with fellow captains, Kayla and Will, to run for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Students of the Year! 6LPH is representative of the average 6 lives every hour that are lost to blood cancer in the United States. In essence, SOY is a 7-week fundraising campaign in which our team works to raise money and spread awareness about blood cancers. As of now, we have set a goal of raising $50,000 throughout the campaign (February 9 - March 29, 2020), and it would be amazing if you could help us reach that goal.

This campaign is very close to my heart because my uncle was diagnosed with Chronic lymphocytic leukemia over 20 years ago, and he was told he would only have 5-8 years to live. However, with the help of numerous clinical trials and treatments he is still with us today. Most recently he began a new treatment known as Venetoclax, a drug that transitioned from trials to pharmacy shelves with the help of both funding and research from LLS. 

In 2019 alone, 12 new treatment options were approved for blood cancer; of those, 11 were in some way advanced in their development by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. LLS has contributed to almost 90% of all blood cancer therapies approved by the FDA since 2017 and have provided over $1.3 billion in cancer research since their establishment in order to help dramatically improve the lives of cancer patients. 

Their valiant efforts in the battle against blood cancer have only been made possible by individuals like you who have made generous donations. Every contribution goes toward helping children and adults alike who are affected by these illnesses. I have experienced the positive impact LLS has made firsthand and any form of support is immensely appreciated.

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.
