Students of the Year New York City
Gabrielle Modica | Coming for Cancer
Gabrielle's Students of the Year Fundraiser
My name is Gabrielle Modica, and I am in 10th grade at the Hewitt School in New York City. This is my first year working with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I am so excited to help raise money to help fight blood cancer.
I am the second generation in my family to come forward to support LLS. My Dad ran two NYC marathons as a proud member of the LLS “Team in Training” running club. He felt inclined to do so because his sister’s husband (Christopher Conologue ) lost his battle to leukemia in 1998, when he was only 38 years old. He left behind his wife and three young children. My brother is named Christopher, in honor of the great man he never had the opportunity to meet.
I feel that I can learn a lot from this experience and help so many people in doing so. LLS is an amazing organization, and the Students of the Year Campaign is a wonderful way for me, and others like me, to help individuals who have been diagnosed with blood cancer. The money I raise will help fund research, develop a cure, and help families as much as possible. I am so lucky to be a part of it and you can too! You can help by raising awareness or donating to my page. Any amount counts and is greatly appreciated! Thank you so much for your help and support!

Thank you, Gabi, for taking up such a worthy cause. As you know, your Uncle Chris was a terrific person and his absence continues to be felt by your family and friends.
