My name is Jana Zgheib, and I am in 9th grade at the Hewitt School in New York City. This is my first year working with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. It is an honor to be working with such an amazing and influential organization on the 2021 Student of the Year Campaign. I look forward to raising awareness on such an important issue, specifically because I have a personal connection with cancer, and I am interested in the medical field. Many of my family members have died, or are suffering from cancer, and I believe that working with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society can not only expand my knowledge on this significant issue, but also  help find a cure and treatments for blood cancer patients. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society works “tirelessly to find cures and ensure patients can access the lifesaving treatments they need. When someone experiences the fear and uncertainty of a cancer diagnosis, we provide hope, compassion, education, and support. And we are making an impact in the cancer community.” I believe that raising money is not the only aspect of making a change. I think it is the hope, empathy, and support you provide to people in need that is also extremely important. I look forward to making a difference in the upcoming 2021 Student of the Year Campaign.
