Dallas's Students of the Year Leadership Team
GivingTuesday is the biggest generosity movement in history. #GivingTuesday was founded as a simple idea: to bring people together for a day of giving back. In its 9th year, nearly every country on earth is participating. GivingTuesday isn’t just about fundraising, it’s about communities banding together and giving of their time, power, skills, expertise, and resources.
Imagine if everyone who saw this pitched in just $5? That's less than a Starbucks order, or the Postmates delivery fees...
Strides are being made not only in blood cancer research, but across the board in finding new drugs and treatments for ALL cancer patients.
You can be a part of the cure.
Giving Tuesday
How many lives can we change in 24 hours?
Your gift supports our mission and changes lives.
$100 could help fund a half-hour of LLS Information Specialists' time providing free, one-on-one support to blood cancer patients and families. $1,000 could help support the training of an LLS-funded research fellow for one week.
Whatever you can give, every dollar helps.
THANK YOU to our 2021 SOY Candidates!
As the Thanksgiving holiday wraps up, and we head into December, we can't express how THANKFUL we are for our Dallas SOY Candidates. These students are truely OUTSTANDING, and without a doubt will make a huge impact on the fight against blood cancer in 2021.
Thanks For Giving
Dallas's Students of the Year Leadership Team
We are honored to volunteer with LLS Dallas as the 2021 Students of the Year Leadership Team.
Students of the Year (SOY) is a seven-week initiative in which exemplary high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. At the end of the seven weeks, the student that raises the most funds in Dallas is crowned Student(s) of the Year, and earns a college scholarship.
SOY is about so much more than fundraising. These passionate, driven students are able to work alongside LLS for months to plan and prepare their 7-week fundraising sprint. They hone their leadership skills, building teams of friends and family to help them along the way. They practice marketing, entrepreneurship and project management, and set and lead meetings with local businesses to secure sponsorships. They really are outstanding!
In our 2020 campaign, Dallas students raised a total of $211,000, with our winner, Jacob Norvell of Jesuit '20, raising over $50,000.
Currently, we have 15 amazing student candidates for 2021, who have set goals above and beyond anything we have seen in Dallas yet.
As the Leadership Team, it is our job not only to find and nominate amazing candidates for Students of the Year, but also to mentor and facilitate their campaigns any way we can.
Part of that is fundraising on behalf of LLS's mission as well. We, too, are a part of the mission to save lives, and better the lives of patients and their families. We really are changing the face of blood cancer!
Every dollar counts in helping us support our Dallas community and outstanding students.
All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support!

My boss' father has had Multiple Myeloma for 7 years and it is truly due to the research supported by LLS that they have the innovations in treatment that he is still with their family. Cheers to continuing this amazing research - every little bit of $$$ helps everybody!
