Welcome to Ann Buckley's SOY Fundraising Page!

Jan 11, 2020

This past July, our amazing son, Reilly (now a high school senior!), was nominated for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s 2020 Students of the Year campaign.  This fundraising campaign is an intense seven-week initiative in which Reilly and other select high school students from around the country compete to raise funds for LLS’s mission: To cure blood cancers and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

Keith and I are so proud of Reilly and the team of committed friends and family members he’s created to help with this fundraising journey. Together with his team, known as Dragons for a Cure, he has set a fundraising goal of $50,000!  All the money that is raised goes directly to the largest blood cancer research program in the nation, LLS, to fund cutting-edge research and treatments. In addition, the treatments that LLS is funding benefit non-blood cancer patients. More than 40% of new cancer treatment drugs approved by the FDA since 2004 started as blood cancer drugs are now being applied in other forms of cancer.

Throughout Reilly’s life, he’s watched many close friends and parents of friends endure long battles with blood cancers. Thanks to research and access to better treatments, survival rates for many blood cancer patients have quadrupled since 1960.  Reilly’s campaign will continue to support the critical work of LLS in hopes that one day no one will have to grow up without the ones they love. We know that with your help, he can reach his goal and make a direct impact in the fight against blood cancers.

At the end of the campaign, there is a Grand Finale Gala that includes an auction for additional fund raising for LLS.  I would really appreciate it if you have any suggestions of anyone who would be willing to donate goods or services for auction items, sponsorships, ads, or other possible fundraising opportunities. Large or small, all contributions to this worthy effort will be greatly appreciated.

I thank you in advance for partnering with a campaign so close to his heart, and please remember, every bit counts. Thank you for supporting Reilly’s campaign and the Dragons for a Cure team!
