Welcome to Katelyn DeShane's SOY Fundraising Page!
Dear Family and Friends,
We are proud to announce that we have been selected as 2018 Students of the Year candidates. Students of the Year is a seven-week fundraising competition for high school students across Northern Ohio. At the end of seven weeks, the team who raises the most funds receives a $2,500 scholarship. The campaign runs from January 19th to March 9th and we are committed to achieving our goal of $10,000!
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding research, finding cures, and ensuring access to treatments for blood cancer patients. Every 3 minutes, someone joins the 1.2 million Americans who are fighting or are in remission from blood cancers. In fact, many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients, but are being tested for patients with lung, brain, breast and pancreatic cancers.
We are not only raising funds in honor of current patients and survivors, but in memory of Katie’s grandfather, Alfred Stork, who passed away from a combination of the blood cancers Myelodysplastic syndrome and Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. His family describes him as a loving father, hardworking man, and veteran who passed away far too soon. He has been a role model throughout Katie’s life and the team hopes to help other families who have to face the challenges that blood cancer brings.
Please consider fighting back against blood cancer, and donate today! If you prefer to mail your donation, please make your payment payable to: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and print “Knights for the Fight” in the memo section. Please note: your donation is tax deductible.
We invite you to take a stand against cancer! Every donation, no matter how big or small, helps us reach our goal of providing support and treatment options to those devastated with blood cancers. Feel free to contact me or my other teammates for more information!
