Olivia's Students of the Year Fundraiser
“Support from friends, family, and community helped me get through a really difficult time in my life and I want to do what I can to help others. When my brother died four years ago from Sudden Cardiac Arrest it was the support from others, not sympathy that helped me get through it.”
Cancer affects people from all walks of life and has touched many communities. It is a disease that can be life-threatening and life-changing due to physical and emotional effects. The Student of the Year campaign is a seven-week student-led fundraising campaign that runs from January 29th to March 19th, to support LLS research, education, patient services, and community services. Every dollar raised counts as one vote for my campaign. I chose “No One Fights Alone” as my team name because it reflects the sense of community, teamwork, and support needed when cancer is the opponent. As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses.
This has already proved to be a rewarding experience and provided opportunities for professional growth and development. Most importantly it has deepened my appreciation and interest in helping others. The candidate whose team tallies the most votes earns the prestigious title of Student of the Year. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.
If you wish to make an online donation, please do so through this website, or if you wish to donate through the mail, please make your check payable to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Please print our team name, “No One Fights Alone” in the memo section. Your donations are tax-deductible and get us close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support! For more information about LLS, please visit www.lls.org
