I am excited to announce that I am participating in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) “Students of the Year” fundraising campaign!  “Students of the Year” is a seven week campaign in which high school students compete against each other to raise the most money for blood cancer research.  The campaign runs January 29, 2022 to March 19, 2022.

Every three minutes, someone is diagnosed with blood cancer.  In addition, leukemia is the #1 most diagnosed form of childhood cancer. These facts are devastating to hear, but LLS has helped to advance more than 85% of FDA-approved blood cancer treatments since 2017.   By making a donation of any size, you will help to decrease the number of cancer patients.  Blood cancer research doesn’t only help leukemia, but it also leads to treatment advances for other cancers and serious diseases.  For example, LLS has funded over 60% of blood cancer therapies being used to treat other cancers.

My team’s name is Team Telescope and our goal is to raise over $35,000!  Our name comes from the idea that when looking through a telescope, you see darkness, but you also find the star.  This is an analogy for what we are doing with our campaign, looking through the tragedy of cancer to find the light of the cure!  In our team, we are assigned to specific groups, and I am in the auction group.  My job is to find 2-3 businesses to donate a basket for our final event.  Because I own a small crochet business, I will be donating a basket!  

LLS’s work has been an extraordinary benefit to many families who are battling cancer.   LLS’s research has also led to many breakthroughs in the cancer world, and with your help, we can find the cure and be done with the devastations of cancer.  Join my team as we raise money to search for a cure.  Any donation is greatly appreciated and goes a long way!
