Kaitlyn Lyden, Alexa Vollweiler, and Ava Singh's Students of the Year Fundraiser
Happy Kick-Off day! Today is a day of celebration as we begin to help raise funds to change lives. We are so excited to start our 7-week journey. If you are on our page, we are happy to see you are contributing to help save lives, and kick cancers butt. With all of your help, it puts us closer to reaching our findrasing goal of raising $50,000.
Our Why...
Why did we get involved in "Students of the Year" and LLS
We got involved in "Students of the Year" for various reasons. First, we all know family or friends who have been affected by cancer. We also realize this remains true for so many other people as well. This made us eager to help make an impact and raise funds that go towards the ending of cancer. We were not aware of how frequently someone was diagnosed with blood cancer. After learning the facts we decided we wanted to make an effort so fewer and fewer people have to hear the life-altering words "You have cancer".
In addition, we wanted to make a direct impact and help those directly in our community. We know people in our own community and our own schools have been diagnosed with cancer. This disease is closer to home than some may realize and help those around us is something we three and our team value very much.
It also provides us with the opportunity to meet other amazing people in the Greater Cleveland area. We get to meet other kids who are interested and investing in helping others and putting an end to cancer!
Right after we joined "Students of the Year" all of the candidates and others came together to recognize one of our honored heroes, Tim. He is an amazing fighter against his battle with cancer. We all had a car parade to honor him, and seeing the smile on his face is another reason we want to do all that we can to help him and others like him with their battle against cancer.
Team's Students of the Year Fundraiser
As a global leader in the fight to end cancer, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is committed to doing more for blood cancer patients and families than any organization in the world. Our signature and innovative fundraising campaigns like Students of the Year drive critical support for their mission – to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, myeloma and improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
Students of the Year is a seven-week fundraising program for high school students in the Greater Cleveland area. Over the next few weeks, We will be raising critical dollars in honor of two local blood cancer survivors, Tim and Colin.
Every dollar raised equals one vote. The team that raises the most funds receives the title Student(s) of the Year.
We believe that beating cancer is in our blood. Cancer is a bully, but we are not afraid to stand up and fight. We invite you to stand with us and join the fight!
By donating, you support the many facets of their mission work from investing in groundbreaking research, providing education and support to patients, and advocating at the state and federal level for legislation to help those living with cancer. Together, we have the power, the passion and the resolve to achieve a world without blood cancer. All donations are tax-deductible.
On behalf of blood cancer patients and their families everywhere, we sincerely thank you for your generous support!
