Dear Friends and Family,

I’m so excited to announce that my daughter, Kelsey, was nominated to participate in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) “Student of the Year” fundraising campaign. Kelsey along with two of her friends, will be organizing a team to raise money to help fight for those living with blood cancers. I’m so proud to be a part of it.

Student of the year is a seven week fundraising competition for high school students in Northern Ohio. Team KCK will have seven weeks from January 25-March 13, 2020 to reach their minimum goal of $25,000. The team is planning fundraising events in the hopes of working with a sponsor to make the events a success.  At the end of the seven weeks, the student who raises the most funds will be announced at the Gala and will receive a $2,500 college scholarship!

LLS was founded in 1949, it’s the largest contributor to blood cancer research in the nation. Since 1960, a five year survival rate for blood cancers has quadrupled. Even so, 1.2 million Americans, patients, survivors and families are affected. This type of cancer has affected our family since my husband, Tom was diagnosed with Non Hodgkins lymphoma about a year ago. It’s estimated about every three minutes another person joins the fight.  In Cleveland alone LLS has funded $1.2 million in research.

If you wish to donate through the mail please make your check payable to the “Leukemia and Lymphoma Society” using the pre-addressed envelope. Make sure to print “Team KCK” on the memo line. The team will also be accepting donations for gift baskets and an opportunity to purchase an add in the program at the Gala. All proceeds go to the team's goal of $25,000.00.
