Julia's Students of the Year Fundraiser
I am thrilled to announce that my team, Tigers Together, was nominated to work with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) and raise funds for the “Student of the Year” campaign. My partner, and peer at Chagrin Falls High School, Owen Lewis and I were nominated as campaign leaders for this year. We hope to make a difference in blood cancer research by raising money to aid those battling cancer. The competition starts January 9, 2021 and ends February 27, 2021. Our group, Tigers Together, is determined to reach our stretch goal of $20,000.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has been working to raise money since 1949. Today, LLS has invested nearly $1.3 billion dollars to advance cancer research. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has also played a significant role in pioneering today’s approaches to blood cancer. Blood cancer is the number one most diagnosed form of childhood cancer, and nearly 1.4 million people are living with or in remission from blood cancer. LLS has worked tirelessly in its efforts to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma. LLS has contributed to advancing 57 of 66 FDA-approved blood cancer treatments since 2017.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society personally means a lot to me because my community of Chagrin Falls, Ohio has unfortunately been impacted by cancer. I have seen friends, teachers, and family members suffer through cancer, and I want to do my part to help. Also, I have had the fortunate opportunity of attending the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Light the Night Walk in support of my close family friend who is a cancer survivor. Therefore, I have seen first hand the good that the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society does for cancer patients, survivors, and their families. I am honored to be a part of such a vital program.
In a year like 2020, one of the most important things we can do is come together to support others in need. This is why our team Tigers Together needs your support to put an end to blood cacer.. With your help, we can make a difference and change someone's life.
By donating, you support the many facets of their mission work from investing in groundbreaking research, providing education and support to patients, and advocating at the state and federal level for legislation to help those living with cancer. Together, we can make a true difference in cancer research and work toward a world without blood cancer. All donations are tax-deductible. If you have any questions, please contact me at juliaashkettle.23@gamil.com or at 216-970-7985.
Thank you for your donation. You are truly making a difference and changing lives.
Sincerely,
Julia Ashkettle and Team Tigers Together
