Dear Friends, 

I'm so excited to say that I’m participating in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student of the Year campaign as a team member! Student of the year is a program in which students, like myself,  plan for a seven-week fundraising period to raise money for LLS! It is an amazing opportunity for students to learn about blood cancers and help raise money for a cure! The program starts on January 26th, 2019 and ends March 15, 2019. My team is hoping to reach our fundraising goal of $50,000 before the end of the campaign to help support LLS and its programs! 

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society was founded in 1949 and has been helping to find a cure for blood cancer since. The purpose of LLS is to not only find a cure for blood cancers, but supporting and comforting patients and their families financially and emotionally. I've watched cancer take the lives of many people in my life, including my grandmother. Following her death in 2012, I was given a first-hand experience into what death does to a family, especially a cancer death. I immediately decided that I wanted to do whatever I could to help find a cure and ease the pain that comes with the disease. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has given me and thousands of other students that opportunity to give back and do their part in the research.
