My daughter Giavanna is participating in an incredible program for High School students with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society called Students of the Year. She will be working to raise awareness for LLS’s mission as well as raising funds in honor of her long time friend Jessica Devlin. It started with what she thought was an upset stomach, she missed out on a week of school due to the “tummy ache”. Then she realized it wasn’t going away, she was taken to the doctor and in that instant nothing would be the same. That night May 17, 2019 would end in Jess finding out she had leukemia, making it the worst night of her life. She was in complete and utter shock, just finding out her life would never be the same, Jess went from friday night football games with friends to chemo every friday. When friends heard the news some came closer and supported her, while others drifted away not able to handle the information at hand. Her family also felt the shock wave with Jessica’s new diagnosis; going through emotional stress, anxiety ridden treatments, and a feeling of helplessness that they couldn’t even help their own daughter/sister/cousin. Instead of working in school functions to their schedule now they have to move around schedules for chemo treatment. This is only one person's story, one family affected, there are so many others out there with similar stories and you can help make sure stories like this aren’t heard anymore. To be able to help her and others like her is why this campaign is very important to my daughter and myself, and why your donation would be more than appreciated.
