Every year, the Leukemia Lymphoma Society (LLS) nominates students for the LLS Student of the Year campaign. We are honored to be nominated as a team for the 2020 Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Our team has had a very personal experience with blood cancer. One of our two team leaders was diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and spent most of her sophomore year going through countless hours of treatment. Therefore, this organization is very important to our team as we have directly seen the effects of blood cancers, and we are proud to be raising critical dollars for blood cancer research, access, and advocacy. 

Each dollar is a vote! The candidate team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student of the Year. Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like Leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens. Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients has doubled, and with your support, we can help continue to increase these odds. Many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but help patients with other cancers and serious diseases. Drugs first approved for blood cancers are now used to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, which further exemplifies the importance of supporting LLS.

Together, we are not only changing the face of blood cancer but the medical world in its entirety.

All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. They will work to support both LLS-funded research and help provide critical information and aid to patients.
