Maryn's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser
Hello friends and family, and Happy Kick Off Day!
I wanted to start this post with a big thank you too all the support I have gotten in the weeks leading up to kick off. Without the love and support, I wouldnt be here ready to fundraise for this incredible cause!
What does kick off mean?- Today marks the official start of my fundraising journey with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS), and we need YOUR help to make a difference!
For the next 7 weeks, we will be raising funds to support life-saving cancer research, patient support programs, and advocacy efforts for those affected by blood cancers. Every dollar you contribute brings us one step closer to a world without leukemia, lymphoma, and other blood cancers. Help me reach my goal of $10,000!
Together we can make a difference! #foracure
Get to know Maryn Hurley!
Hello! My Name is Maryn Hurley and I am on Team rams 4 a Cure to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society campaign.
Get to know me!
I am currently a Junior in highschool attending Robinson Secondary School, with future plans of attending an in-state 4 year college upon graduation. To keep myself busy I like to invest my time in clubs including National Honors Society, National English Honor Society, Rambassdaors, and International Key club. In addition, I am also on the Executive Board of Robinsons Student Government. Something that I like so much about these clubs is that they all have something in common, a mission to serve others and make a difference. Which is exactly what I hope to do with this campaign and fight to cure cancer! During the summers, I am a counselor at a summer camp in Madison Va where I strive to make kids summers as magical as possible. During my free time I work at Chloez cafe, hangout with my friends and sisters, and read!
My WHY-
My reason to be apart of this campaign or better known as my WHY is to try to make a difference towards a critical cause. This campaign strives to help educate, support, research, and fundraise for people that are affected by Leukemia and Lymphoma. I strive to make a difference in each one of those pillars during this journey as a student visionary. To be a part of this campaign takes a lot of determination, but it also takes a lot of bravery, this is something that I get from my cousin. My cousin Ryan lost her long battle to cancer a year ago. Her bravery that she carried herself with since her diagnosis is something that I carry with me, she inspired me to be the change and I hope I can pass that along to people, for me to be their sign to also make a change.
Follow along to my journey as a student visionary and to help me reach my fundraising goal starting on Jan 18th! :)
Maryn's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser
Visionaries look to the future—and see infinite possibility.
They challenge the status quo—and make the impossible possible.
They boldly imagine a better world – and lead the charge to create it.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was built on that same vision - of a better world - one without blood cancers.
I am a visionary; I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help.
This year, I’m proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission.
As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:
- Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
- Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
- Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.
Please consider joining this fight by making a donation. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!
Thanks to your support, my efforts will help ensure this generation is the last to see cancer.
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!

Good luck Mary in reaching your goal. It takes perseverance, passion and drive to fundraise and you clearly have all those qualities. Happy to donate to honor my friend Kathy who died from Leukemia in 2012, age 48.
