Siddhanth's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser
It's a universally know fact music has many healing powers. Team Fight for the Light put up an impeccable musical eveing including a dinner and a silent auction on February 29th through Leap for a Cure concert to benefit team's LLS fund raising campaign. An eclectic group of Team Fight for the Light present and past team members and volunteers from Riverside High School theatre background graciously volunteered their time to enthrall audiences with their performances. Paige McLaughlin, who is a Lymphoma survivor and running for 'LLS Visionary of the Year' fund raising campaign graced the event as honored guest and spoke about her journey of beating cancer with the help of LLS Patient Support service. We are happy we chose Patient Education & Support as our mission pillar and benefitting people in need.

World Cancer Day Fundraising Event
It was an evening of community gathering on the world cancer day to support Team Fight for the Light’s effort to raise funds for Leukemia & Lymphoma society. The turn out was great and we can’t be thankful enough for helping us getting one step closer to our goal of raising funds for LLS misson pillar - Patient Education & Support.
Remembering Gautam
Today is the world cancer day to remember those that lost lives, to support those that are fighting it and to celebrate those that overcame it.
In December of 2022, my grand mom called to support a 16 year old kid, Gautam, from her village. Gautam was diagnosed with Leukemia and needed bone marrow transplant. The cost was steep and his parents needed all the support they could get. Knowing the urgency of the situation, my family rallied to crowdfund resources for Gautam’s treatment. It was a long battle for him before he lost to it.
I as a candidate for The Leukemia & Lymphoma society’s 2024 Northern Virginia student Visionary of the year is raising funds to support the LLS mission of Patient Education & Support. These funds are utilized to help those in need. Thank you for donating to the cause.
Siddhanth's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser
Hi!
My name is Siddhanth Bhupalam, and I'm so excited to be an LLS Student Visionaries of the Year(SVOY) in NOVA.
Here's a little bit of an introduction about myself: I'm a sophomore at Riverside High School, and in my freetime, I do activities like theatre, singing, watching movies and hanging out with my friends.
I am a massive theatre kid, I have been doing shows for almost 5 years now and I hope to continue doing them. Some of my favorite roles I have ever played are Igor from Mel Brook's Young Frankenstein and Buddy The Elf from Elf. Here are some videos of me performing these roles!

I am leading my team, Team Fight for The Light along with my two co-captains, Megan and Allison. Along with our campaign, we also started a club at our school called Rams for a Cure, a club that honors Cancer Survivors and spreads awareness about all cancers.
I joined 2024 LLS SVOY campaign with the aim to raise funds that goes towards patient support. The reason being
- My family friend passed away at the age of 16 due to blood cancer and his family had few resources to support the treatment.
- My paternal uncle passed away due to lung cancer.
- 2 of my maternal grandparents cousins passed away due to brain cancer.
- Many of my mom's side of family members have gone through different types of cancers and beat them.
I have seen or heard of the emotional, physical and mental challenges that they have gone through. Contributing funds to LLS mission of patient support helps families to alleviate these challenges.
- In 2022, LLS information specialists had more than 14,000 interactions with patients and caregivers and awarded more than $385 million in financial assistance to families.
- In the last 6 years, LLS research has helped advance 3 out of every 4 blood cancer treatment options approved by the FDA. It also helped treatments with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers.
My goal is to raise as many funds as possible during a 7 week fundraising campaign that starts on January 27th and ends on March 16th. I know I can achieve this through the help of my friends, family, and the community surrounding me. It would be of great help if you all can support me achieve this goal by sharing this link to everyone that you know. All donations contributed towards the cause are tax-deductible.
With all you generous support and help, we ensure this generation is the last to see cancer.
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you! For more information about LLS, please visit www.lls.org.
