Week Six has started!

A few weeks back we had our first corporate pitch and walked away with a sizable donation and a new corporate partner for the LLS that left us in awe! We are so greatful for this opportunity and what we were able to learn during these 7 weeks!   Thank you Serco and Mr. Watson for your time and listening to why this campaign is so important to us! 

Briston and I are so excited to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Visionaries of the Year campaign.  On January 27th, the campaign officially kicked-off. we have been working hard to create a plan to raise $200,000 in just seven weeks!  This will not be an easy...but nothing easy is ever worth it!  We will raise money from individuals and at the Corporate level! Please join us in saving lives!

I am a visionary; I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help. My name is Addison Foster. I am a sophomore at George C. Marshall High School. This is my second year playing goalie for their field hockey team. Field hockey is definitely more than just a sport to me. It has given me the opportunity to build liefelong friendships. My other passion is soccer.  For the past 5 years I have played soccer for the Vienna Yourth Soccer League and this year will be my first year on my high school JV team!  I am honored to serve as an officer for my schools Best Buddies team and volunteer for Special Olympics.  In my spare time I love to cook, write, take photots and spend time with my friends!

I'm running for Student Visonaries of the Year because of my mom, Jeana Foster.  My mom has been involved with the LLS since 2008 to honor my great grandmother who passed away from Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in 1999.  She was the LLS Woman of the Year in 2013 and has been actively involved in many ways including serving as Co-chair for numerous campaigns and is currently the Vice Chairman for the Mid-Atlantic Board of Trustees.  I am also running because of our dear friend Daniela Sanzetenea who is an Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) survivor and truly loved and cherished by our family.  I have been involved with LLS my whole life and have been excited for this opportuity for so many years. Our team, Team Legacy, is in honor of my mom as I want to continue her legacy.  Team Legacy wants to honor all those that we have lost and also create hope for those fighting cancer today.

I have always known that the one person I wanted to run with me is my lifelong friend, Briston Lewis. We have known each other since birth and he is the only person I want by my side during this campaign.  Briston and I, along with our amazing team members, are working hard to raise money but more importantly to raise awarness that will leave a lasting impact.  My mom has given us the foundation to give back to the community and leave the world better than we found it! I am so lucky to share her passion and have her guidance. I am also blessed to have the support from my lifelong friends and team members, Leah Nguyen, Layla Goodwin, Sienna Chambers and Lilia Foster.

I am truly honored to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Northern Virginia Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign.

As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:

• Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
• Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
• Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.
