Cat's Student Visionaries of the Year Northern Virginia Fundraiser
Hi! I'm Cat!
I attend Loudoun County High School and this is my second year participating in the Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign! Last year I joined the campaign as a candidate, and this year I am excited to join as a team member. I can't wait to once again get the privilege of being a part of this opportunity!
Anyway, here is a little bit more about myself:
My favorite color is yellow because its brightness instantaneously fills me with joy. Cows have always been my favorite animal because they remind me of visiting my grandmother. Likewise to many teens my age, I have an absurd addiction to Taylor Swift.
I am heavily invested in my high school's cross-country and track teams. I have found comfort in the sport of running as long as I can remember and hope to someday run a marathon! Along with my love for running, I am the editor-in-chief of my school's newspaper. Writing has always brought me an outlet to both be creative and use my words to create change in the world. My love for writing has led me to my aspirations of someday being a journalist.
My loving mother has and always will be my greatest supporter and best friend. She has given me her love for running and her creative mind. My dad is just as commendable, giving me the passion to be a writer and his empathetic spirit. And as irritating as my younger brother can be, I can’t believe how much he has grown and secretly think he’s the coolest. Intertwined into our crazy family, is our dog that ties our family together with her joyful spirit and endless energy. Together, we have traveled the world going as far as Iceland, Italy, and even Australia. My desire to travel and explore is a fundamental part of who I am.
When I'm not with my family, I'm with my friends. I love the outdoors and find peace in the outdoors, so I take every opportunity to enjoy nice weather and nature. I love hiking, swimming, and outdoor games, as well as reading.
I originally joined this campaign last year because one of my friends offered me a position as a co-candidate. I knew it was going to be a lot of work, but in the end, seeing how much we raised and the difference we caused made it all entirely worth it. I was unsure if I would come back for a second year, however, I am so grateful to be back and I am ready to make a difference wherever I can :)
Visionaries look to the future—and see infinite possibilities.
They challenge the status quo—and make the impossible possible.
They boldly imagine a better world – and lead the charge to create it.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was built on that same vision - of a better world - one without blood cancers.
I am a visionary; I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help.
This year, I’m proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission.
As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:
- Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics, and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
- Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
- Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.
Please consider joining this fight by donating. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!
Thanks to your support, my efforts will help ensure this generation is the last to see cancer.
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!
