I am honored to announce that I was nominated as a candidate in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign. I have chosen to run as a team made up of three leading candidates: myself, Piper O'Connor, and Polly Kopasz-Gemmen. In this campaign, our team, "Team Discovery," is looking to raise a total of $15,000 by February 25, 2023. Once all the money is raised, it will be donated to the LLS program where they will use it to fund research projects that will contribute to possible breakthroughs; bring awareness and mobilize advocates to speak on topics that will drive policy changes; and provide free education and support to patients and their families. This project is not an easy one, so in order to reach this goal, we need your help!

Blood cancer affects people worldwide. It strikes randomly and can take some of your closest family and friends away from you in an instant. Polly Kopasz-Gemmen, one of my close friends and a candidate on my team, recently had her grandma, Ida, pass away from Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia in September of 2022. To honor Ida, we chose her as our campaign's hero. We hope to bring awareness to this awful disease and help future patients by making their journey with blood cancer the least painful as possible.

Approximately 158 patients who live in the US who are diagnosed with blood cancer pass away each day. With this number not looking to decrease any time soon, we need to do something about it! We need more studies done to advance vaccines and allow blood cancer patients to live long happy lives. We need to kick cancer out of their lives completely! To be successful, everyone needs to do their part. Each dollar you are contributing to research, will move us closer to a cancer free community, country, and even world. We are the future.
