Cat Pizzarello | Team Captains for a Cure

Cat's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser

Jan 09, 2023

Visionaries look to the future—and see infinite possibility.
They challenge the status quo—and make the impossible possible.
They boldly imagine a better world – and lead the charge to create it.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was built on that same vision - of a better world - one without blood cancers.

I am a visionary; I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help.

Hi! My name is Cat Pizzarello and I am a junior at Loudoun County High School! This year, I’m proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission. I'm super excited to be a co-candidate with my close friend, Emma Pearson, and our amazing team, Captains for a Cure! A bit about me... running is practically my entire personality, as I participate in varsity cross country and indoor/outdoor track at County! I love the adrenaline rush and the atmosphere around my sport and hope to continue running throughout my entire life. Along with sports, I am also apart of the school newspaper at County, for my love of writing! Its such a great group of people and I really enjoy creating a little time capsule for the schools history. I also love traveling and seeing the world with my family where we have been so many crazy places. Rome, Greece, Paris, Portugal, Australia and so much more. As for hobbies, I love listening to music and reading! My favorite artists are The Rolling Stones, Lana Del Rey, The Cranberries, Phoebe Bridgers, Edie Brickel and to be honest I could go on. Some of my favorite books include: They Both Die at the End, The Catcher and the Rye, Angels & Demons, Perks of Being a Wallflower and The Player's Plate.

This campaign has already helped me really understand the importance of helping others, has allowed me to learn important life skills, and hugely improve my ability to get out of my comfort zone and confront people with something that is important to me!

We are visionaries; we have a vision for a world without cancer, but we need your help.

This year, we're rpud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to rais as much as possible for LLS's mission.

As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:

  • Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
  • Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
  • Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.

Please consider joining this fight by making a donation. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!

Thanks to your support, my efforts will help ensure this generation is the last to see cancer.

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!
