Hi! My name is Anna Knight and I decided to join the Student Visionaries of the Year campaign, "Team Discovery", in support of my friends, my family, and everybody who has been affected by cancer. The Student Visionaries of the Year campaign, is a campaign in which students across the country work to raise the most possible amount of money for LLS's mission between January 7th and February 25th. I decided to join the fight to cure Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin's Disease, and Myeloma and to improve the quality of life of cancer patients and their families. 

As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:

• Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
• Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
• Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.

My grandma, Nancy, survived breast cancer but then later in her life she died of a lymphoma. Cancer took away my chance to meet her. My grandpa, George, also died from esophagial cancer when I was 2. Even at such a young age, my grandpa had an immense affect on me. I have no memories at that age besides my grandpa playing games with me, making me laugh, and lighting up every room he walked into. From all of the stories I have heard from my dad about his parents they were very light-hearted, hardworking, and gracious people. With your help, we can make sure every person has the gift of knowing their grandparents. 

Approximately every 9 minutes someone in the U.S. dies from a blood cancer and from your support LLS and other foundations can help bring that time to 10 minutes or 20 minutes or 1 hour. Your donations directly help to create a cure quicker and more easily to blood cancer and hopefully all cancers. 

I am a visionary this year on behalf of all cancer patients and their families. With your help, we can decrease the amount of people who are affected by cancer.
