Ellie & Nick's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser
Welcome to our 2024 LLS SVOY Campaign Fundraiser Page! We are beyond excited to take on the challenge to raise funds for this incredible non-profit organization. A changemaker in the lives of thousands of Americans every year impacted by blood cancers, we are honored to be a part of the 2024 DC candidate cohort in shaping LLS's mission in improving research, patient & family support, and advocacy in light of combatting cancer on a global scale.
What are we raising funds for?
We were nominated to participate in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, and we are candidates for Team Chuck For A Cure with two amazing team members. Through our campaign, we are supporting LLS' mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma while improving the quality of life for patients and their families. LLS achieves its goal through its three mission pillars: research, patient support, and policy & advocacy.
Our "why?"
We joined this campaign because of our grandfather, Charles Brown. Our grandfather passed away from Acute Myeloblastic Leukemia in 2019, just three weeks after his diagnosis. Because of this personal connection, we have been determined to be a part of the change to improve the treatment and accessibility of resources for patients and hopefully one day to the end of cancer. It was so essential for us to participate in this campaign as we strive to ensure no family would have to go through that again. Our team is dedicated to his legacy and we hope to honor him well with this campaign.
Through our participation in this amazing organization, not only are we honoring our grandfather, but we are also honoring our 2024 Honored Hero, Rajan Patel. He is a freshman in high school who has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Through LLS and campaigns like this, Rajan can get the proper treatment and support he needs to beat his fight against cancer.
About Us
As twins, this endeavor could not have been more suited for us. We are ecstatic for the opportunity to take on the challenge to raise thousands of dollars for LLS in memory of our grandfather who passed from blood cancer. Currently, we are seniors at Thomas A Edison High School, where we are thoroughly involved in academics and extra-curricular activities as International Baccalaureate Diploma Candidates, athletes in multiple varsity sports, and officers in major school clubs. We are driven to be well-rounded students, and through our work ethic, we will strive tirelessly to help LLS in its mission to cure blood cancers with our campaign.
Please consider joining this fight by donating to our site. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible.
Also, please tell friends and companies who would also like to donate! We appreciate your support in our efforts to help ensure our generation is the last to see cancer. On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you.

What is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society: Student Visionaries of the Year (SVOY)?
Visionaries look to the future—and see infinite possibility.
They challenge the status quo—and make the impossible possible.
They boldly imagine a better world – and lead the charge to create it.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was built on that same vision - of a better world - one without blood cancers.
We are a visionary; We have a vision for a world without cancer, but we need your help.
This year, we are proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission.
What is our impact?
As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:
- Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
- Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
- Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.
