Student Visionaries of the Year Washington DC
Alex Brown | Team Teens Against Leukemia & Lymphoma
Alex's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser
Hello! I'm Alex Brown of Teens Against Leukemia and Lymphoma(TALL) and welcome to the homepage of my fundraising campaign. I'm currently a 16-year-old junior at St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School in Alexandria, Virginia. Each year the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society does a seven week campaign called the "Student Visionaries of the Year" to raise money. High school students across the DC area form teams and compete to see who can raise the most money during the campaign. I have started a fundraising team called "Teens Against Leukemia & Lymphoma". The team is made up of 8 students from St. Stephens and St. Agnes School and Langley High School.
The mission of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society(LLS) is to raise money that can be used to fight cancer by funding new research to find a cure and to fund treatments and improve the quality of life for current patients and their families.
Pictured below is Rajan Patel, a cancer survivor. Rajan is currently cancer free as a result of cutting edge treatments that were researched and developed with the help of funding from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Many patients cannot afford these treatments and the money we raise goes to both research and to help pay for the treatment of children whose parents cannot afford the cost.
Leukemia and Lymphoma are common cancers and most people today have a relative or friend who may have been impacted by this cancer. Please help me to raise money over the next seven weeks to support this cause. The donations are tax deductible and you can visit my homepage to track my progress in the campaign.
There are also corporate sponsorship opportunities and we also accept donations from corporations.
As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:
- Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
- Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
- Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.
Please consider joining this fight by making a donation. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!
Thanks to your support, my efforts will help ensure this generation is the last to see cancer.
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!

As a symbol of support and admiration for your incredible strength, I am honored to dedicate this message to you. At just six years old, you are facing a challenge with bravery that inspires us all. To Geno, your father, and your entire family: your unwavering support and love for Justin is a beacon of hope and strength. It's remarkable how families come together in times like these, transforming difficult journeys into stories of perseverance and love. This donation is made in honor of Justin's fight. It represents more than just financial support; it's a symbol of our collective belief in the power of research and the importance of patient support. By contributing to this cause, we are not only aiding in the fight against childhood leukemia but also standing in solidarity with Justin and every child who faces this battle. Justin, keep showing us what true strength looks like. Your journey is a source of inspiration, and we are all cheering for you. -Rhett Hierlmeier

Alex, Your Dad and I went to Virginia Tech together and I saw your flyer in his office. Over the years a number of my friends have run fundraising campaigns for LLS Man & Woman of the year - although I hadn't realized that student groups do it too. Awesome job to you and your team & keep up the great work! I know it takes a lot of time and effort to run an LLS campaign - but knowing the positive impact it makes in helping others is the biggest reward of all. Cheers!
