Maddy's Student Visionaries of the Year Washington DC Fundraiser
Hello everyone my name is Maddy Mathew and i am so glad to be apart of the LLS team. Some things about me is that I love hanging out with my friends and family, playing basketball, reading books, and sleeping.
MY WHY: Cancer is a horrible disease and still runs rampant across the globe. I have always strived to make a difference in the world and help people! During my time volunteering at the Walter Reed Military Medical Center, I was assigned to the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Unit and it was heartbreaking to see these patients go through such hardships. At the time, I couldn't do anything to help. But now having the opportunity to be a part of LLS is giving me the pathway to help all those who have suffered from cancer and make a difference in the world. The fight against Cancer is an ongoing battle so I hope together we can create a world without it. I hope to inspire people to join the fight against cancer
This is an amazing opportunity and I'm so glad I am able to do it with such an amazing group of people. Any donation is greatly appreciated and can make a huge impact in medical advancements, research, treatments, and for cancer.
Visionaries look to the future—and see infinite possibility.
They challenge the status quo—and make the impossible possible.
They boldly imagine a better world – and lead the charge to create it.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was built on that same vision - of a better world - one without blood cancers.
I am a visionary; I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help.
This year, I’m proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission.
As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:
- Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
- Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
- Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.
Please consider joining this fight by making a donation. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!
Thanks to your support, my efforts will help ensure this generation is the last to see cancer.
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!

My nephew Alex Dalton, who was diagnosed with ALL as an 18-month-old, and just completed treatment as a 7-year-old and remains in remission is my hero and a testament to the power of cancer research and the LLS mission. Thanks for being a part of this effort, Maddy!

Great work Maddy! I did a fundraiser for LLS back in 2005 called Team In Training.Ended up running a marathon for it. It was a very rewarding experience. I wanted to help because my best friend's son was diagnosed with ALL when he was 2 years old. He is in remission and living a healthy happy life at age 22! Good luck on your drive!
