As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:

My name is Deborah Anteneh, and I am an 11th grader in the Biomedical Magnet at Wheaton High School. I am a President of the Red Cross Club at my school, where we are currently hosting a school wide blood drive. Another way that I try to serve my community is by volunteering at the Emergency Department at the hospital closest to me. Aside from school and volunteering, in my free time I enjoy reading, playing volleyball, and crocheting!

This year, I’m proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission.

I decided to join this campaign because I want to make a difference in my community and in healthcare by helping fund medical research of blood cancers. Through my volunteer work at White Oak Medical Center, I was able to see the devastating impact of cancer on people, which inspired me to contribute to funding scientific breakthroughs that could treat these life-threatening diseases.

Visionaries look to the future—and see infinite possibility.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was built on that same vision - of a better world - one without blood cancers.
