Student Visionaries of the Year Washington DC
Avery Truitt | Team Gators Beat Blood Cancer
Avery's Student Visionaries of the Year Washington DC Fundraiser
I am a visionary; I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help.
This year, I’m proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission.
Hi! Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page.
My name is Avery Truitt, and I am a Sophomore at Stone Ridge in Bethesda, Maryland. I am a part of the Gators Beat Blood Cancer Team in the 2024 Student Visionaries of the Year (SVOY) Campaign. From January 13th to March 2nd, I will compete against students from across the country to see who can raise the most funds and awareness for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). My personal goal is $5,000, and I can’t do it alone! Any size donation is greatly appreciated and will bring us one step closer to a cure for blood cancer.
There are a few reasons I participate in this campaign, but at the top of the list of why I participate is that both of my grandfathers have battled with Cancer.
My grandfather on my Mom’s side recently had a battle with cancer. He was diagnosed with Stage 2 Colorectal Cancer, and, after a long battle and having to undergo chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery, he is now recovering and getting stronger every day. Both myself and my family are extremely grateful for him to be here today (I love you, Pop!).
I am also fundraising in honor of my grandfather, my dad's father, who passed away around 8 years ago due to a battle with Stomach Cancer and complications from it, so to honor his legacy, I am part of this campaign. Because both of these diagnoses are so close to me, finding the cure for blood cancer holds a significant place in my heart.
Please consider joining this fight by donating. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. Please share my page with your family and friends to help me reach my goal and fund the fight against blood cancer!
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!
