Reed Holder | Team Barons Crush Blood Cancer
Reed's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser
I am so excited to share that I am representing Bethesda Chevy-Chase (BCC) High School as a candidate in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) 2023 Student Visionaries of the Year campaign. From January 21st through March 11th of 2023, students across the country will be competing to see who can raise the most funds and awareness for LLS’s mission to cure blood cancers. I am hoping that you can help my team reach our goal of $50,000.
I was only eighteen months old when my dad died of a rare Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. My dad was always motivated to help others and give back to his community. I hope to follow in his footsteps by participating in this fundraising campaign. I am extremely motivated for this specific cause because I know how hard it is to be raised without a dad. I don’t want any other kids to suffer the loss that my family did.
This campaign is not only a way to help save countless lives and leave an amazing impact for future cancer patients, but its also a way to continue on my fathers legacy. From what i've heard from family and freinds he was a persistent member in community service, he loved helping other people. Student Visionaries of The Year is my way to do just as much good as my father did and make him proud.
As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:
- Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
- Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
- Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.
Please consider joining this fight by making a donation. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!
Thanks to your support, my efforts will help ensure this generation is the last to see cancer.
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!

My mom, Carol Starr, had lymphoma in 2021 and is now in remission. Every day I think how lucky she is to have responded to the treatment and how different our world we would be if there had been a treatment available to your dad which worked.
