Hello!

Jan 21, 2023

Hi! My name is Ivy Wydler, and I am a Junior at Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School. I am honored to be working for such an important cause. It is a sad truth that every person I talk to about LLS has been or knows a loved one who has been affected by blood cancer.

I decided to dedicate my time to LLS and SVOY because of a conversation I had with a stranger. A couple of years ago, while talking to someone on an airplane, I mentioned that my sister Bailey was a team member of LLS. The woman had leukemia and explained that she was finishing a five year drug trial for the cancer. She had tears in her eyes as she expressed her gratitude both for the money LLS donates to cancer research and the support she and her family received from the organization. Hearing how the donations impact not only people that I know, but patients and families that I will never meet illustrated to me the importance and power of LLS’s mission. I knew then that I wanted to follow my sister’s footsteps and make a difference.

I have signed up to save lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and am working to raise as much as possible over the next 7 weeks. Every dollar raised counts as one vote for my campaign. The candidate(s) whose team tallies the most votes earns the prestigious title of Student or Students of the Year. Will you help me earn that title?

Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.

We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers! I hope to be part of the generation that brings an end to blood cancer. Help us to change the world!

All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.

Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!

Let's change the world!

Ivy's Student Visionaries of the Year Washington DC Fundraiser

Jan 07, 2023

Visionaries look to the future—and see infinite possibility.
They challenge the status quo—and make the impossible possible.
They boldly imagine a better world – and lead the charge to create it.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was built on that same vision - of a better world - one without blood cancers.

I am a visionary; I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help.

This year, I’m proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission.

As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:

  • Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
  • Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
  • Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.

Please consider joining this fight by making a donation. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!

Thanks to your support, my efforts will help ensure this generation is the last to see cancer.

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!
