Emily's Student Visionaries of the Year Washington DC Fundraiser
Hi and Welcome to my LLS Fundraising Page!
My name is Emily Kearney, and I am a junior at the Flint Hill school. I am a member of team RollSkis 4 A Cure! We aim to raise as much money as possible to support cancer research over the next seven weeks! I am a visionary and have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help. Every dollar counts, and we cannot do this without you! Please donate to my campaign and help those in need.
Many of you know me, but for those of you who don’t, helping people has always been a passion of mine. I try to spend any free time that I have volunteering with different organizations such as Warrior Canine Connection, Food for Others, and Women Giving Back. When presented with the opportunity to join Rollskis for a Cure I was very excited to join. A little more about me is I love to spend time with family and friends, play both club and high school volleyball, run track, weightlift, and travel to new places.
I chose to participate LLS Student Visionary Program this year, not only because I want to help people battling cancer around the world, but because I have seen how cancer affects families firsthand. A very close family friend, who recently won her battle with cancer, continues to inspire me every day. She is one of the strongest, most persevering people I know, and watching her battle cancer inspired me to learn about cancer research and possible future preventatives of cancer. I want to help ensure that other people in the future do not have to endure the hardships of cancer as she did. I would like to dedicate this campaign in her honor as a congratulations on her success in beating cancer and because she continues to inspire me every day.
Hearing "you have cancer" are some of the most heartbreaking words for patients and their families. On average, ten people hear "you have blood cancer" every thirty minutes. Every nine minutes, approximately one person has lost their battle. This means a family has lost their son, daughter, mom, dad, sister, or brother every nine minutes. With the help of your donations, we can help ensure that hearing these words is not as scary.
As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:
-
Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
-
Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
-
Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.
Please consider joining this fight by making a donation. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible, every dollar counts! Please visit my website often to see my campaign’s progress! Also, please spread the word to other friends and coworkers who might also like to donate! Thanks to your support, our combined efforts will help ensure this generation is the last to see cancer. On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!

Visionaries look to the future—and see infinite possibility.
They challenge the status quo—and make the impossible possible.
They boldly imagine a better world – and lead the charge to create it.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was built on that same vision - of a better world - one without blood cancers.
I am a visionary; I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help.
This year, I’m proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission.

10+ family members and friends have fought and won the Breast cancer battle, a friend is currently battling ovarian cancer, and I have lost a Pastor to Pancreatic Cancer and both my Dad and Brother to lung cancer. Thank you for focusing on a very important cause that hopefully will save lives.
