Hello, I am Arkhip Dmitriev, a member of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Student Visionaries of the Year Program representing Team Maroon & Black from the Episcopal High School. I joined this team this year because I wanted to make a change in the world. Leukemia kills tens of thousands of victims per year in America alone. By supporting LLS you and I can help stop Leukemia and other deadly illnesses from destroying the lives of thousands. 

LLS combats Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin's Disease, and Myeloma in main ways:

- Funding Reasearch:

LLS funds the most promising blood cancer research globally and forges collaborations to accelerate new discoveries, treatments, and cures. With a more than 70-year track record, LLS has supported virtually every advancement in blood cancer treatment – including approaches once thought impossible. As the largest nonprofit funder of cutting-edge blood cancer research worldwide, LLS has been key in advancing 75 percent of the blood cancer treatment options approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) over the last five years.

- Providing Support to Patients:

LLS works tirelessly to provide hope, guidance, education, and support when it’s needed most, so no one has to face cancer alone. Its robust financial assistance programs provide a crucial lifeline for blood cancer patients and their families, and in 2021 alone, LLS provided $241 million in financial assistance to over 42,000 patients.  

- Advocating for Better Care:

LLS is relentless, agile, and determined to effect meaningful change in the fight against blood cancers and has raised its voice to put patients and families at the center of everything it does. LLS empowers advocates across the country to share their stories and prompt lawmakers to act on public policy issues that matter to blood cancer patients and survivors – from improving access to treatment to promoting meaningful insurance coverage for patients to accelerating new cures.
