As you may know, I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in 2017. This was an extremely scary and challenging time for my family and me. Fortunately, I was able to have a stem cell transplant in August 2018 and my cancer continues to be in remission today. In addition to this time being scary and challenging, it was also very humbling, motivating, and educational for us. Since 2019, we have participated in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light the Night annual fundraising walk to help support LLS's mission to cure blood cancers and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families.

This year, I’m proud that my daughter, Annie, is part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for this same great organization and I have joined her team, Team CUREage, to help her raise money. 

As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:

• Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
• Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
• Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.
