Noor Salama Rams 4 A Cure

I am in 11th grade at Robinson Secondary School and I am participating in the fight to end Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Hodgkin's disease. 

I am excited and proud to be part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise $60,000 for LLS's mission. I am part of a 12 person team, Rams 4 A Cure, led by Madigan Rustia and Alexa Haynie. Our team is dedicated to raising money to support families suffering from Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Hodgkin's disease over a 7 week span from January 21st through March 11th.

​​​​​LLS's Goal:

Fund research leadng to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving lives of patients. 

Provide free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more. 

Mobilize thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments. 

Since learning about LLS Student Visionaries and becoming involved in this campaign in November 2022, I have learned a lot about the effects cancer can have on families' financial situations, impacting their loved one by not being able to receive the treatment necessary as well as the mental stability of everyone involved. My hope is to bring attention to the wonderful work done by LSS in Research, Advocacy, and Patient Support, and to raise money for LLS to continue making a difference in the lives and families touched by diagnosis. 

I can relate to those impacted by illness since a close family member was diagnosed with a serious auto-immune disease a few years ago. Not only is it expensive, it takes a toll on the ability to focus on school and extracurriculars. I had to sacrifice a lot of my own time to care for them in their pain and loneliness, as well as juggle extracurriculars and my mental health. 

My personal fundraising goal is to raise $5,000 towards Patient Support. The more money I fundraise the more patients will have the support they need to ger the necessary treatment as well as financial relief for their families.
