Hi everyone, my name is Samhita Maddikunta. Thank you for taking the time to visit my personal fundraising page and hopefully donating to the cause. If you would like to know more about the cause then please keep reading but before that, I would like to tell you a little bit more about me. I am a freshman at Lightridge HS and the Academies of Loudoun. I love reading, volleyball, dance, music, and just having fun! I am also very excited to introduce all of you to our campaign. 

I have signed up to save lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and am working to raise as much as possible over the next 7 weeks. Every dollar raised counts as one vote for my campaign. The candidate(s) whose team tallies the most votes earns the prestigious title of Student of the Year. 

Blood cancer is the most common type of cancer and the funds from this campaign go towards research and treatments to one day put an end to cancer. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers. LLS-supported therapies help not only blood cancer patients but also help patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancer and have also started running clinical trials for patients with brain, breast, pancreatic, and prostate cancers. Many drugs and treatments funded by LLS are saving thousands of lives a day.

My personal reason for taking part in this campaign is because it is a great opportunity to learn more about blood cancer and help to maybe one day find a cure. I also hope that in the following years I can run as a candidate. This would be a great leadership opportunity and it is a goal that I will continue to work towards for the rest of my high school career and maybe even beyond that.
