Recently, at the begining of our campaign, we had the pleasure of meeting our Team Pheonix MVP and inspiration, Matt Hall.  He is a constant reminder to us of why LLS is so passionate about what they do.  Matt is currently in remission from ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukemia) and we're incredibly excited for him to end treatment in April 2021!  He is a true warrior with the greatest spirit, and we're so lucky to have him on our team!

Hello all! My co-candidate, Fiona, and I are dedicated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's mission because we have experienced first-hand the effects of cancer on families, friends and communities. When first asked why we were interested in this campaign, we were reminded of our dear friend, Gavin Rupp, from 6th grade. Gavin was diagnosed with brain cancer at the age of 10. During his two-and-half-year battle with cancer, we watched Gavin poured his heart into everything he did, especially baseball, his favorite sport. It was heartbreaking to see him struggle through something he loved so much, but he fought so fiercely until the very end. He inspired us deeply with his strength and never-give-up attitude until his last breath on July 30th, 2013. Gavin’s brave story is why we are running in this campaign. We are channeling our friend’s strength and courage to reach Team Phoenix’s goal of $75,000 and with your help, we know we are one step closer to helping thousands of other children who are in similar situations as our sweet friend, Gavin.
