My Why:

When my mom was younger, her aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer and became very sick. It was a difficult time for her family. However, through the grace of God and the abilities of good doctors, she thrived for many years until she passed earlier this year. Her strength and courage inspired me to join this campaign to fight against cancer. I want to ensure that physicians, researchers and caregivers have the resources and money needed to assist all who are stricken with this awful disease.

Recent Impact:

They say cancer affects 1 out of every 3 people and I want to do my part to help find the cure. Just recently, I found out that my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Due to the advance research the doctors had at their disposal; they can treat the tumor before it could do any major damage.

I love my grandmother dearly. That’s a big reason why I’m dedicating my campaign to helping researchers find more ways to treat and limit cancer’s impact.

My grandmother shared, “God blessed me to have doctors and caregivers who successfully performed my lumpectomy at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. The support of family and friends also strengthened me.  I prayed…so I did not worry. I knew that God would take care of me. I am truly thankful that the research of the past has created the knowledge of the present to help with early detection and treatment to fight against cancer.”
