All over the globe, millions of people have their lives drastically changed from a cancer diagnosis each year. Whether its a relative, a close friend, or even a classmate, no child or adult should have to endure the pain that is cancer. And yet, despite the pain, thousands defy cancer and ring their victory bell. Whats more, treatments continue to improve as research is funded.  With new treatments, more and more siblings, spouses, cousins, and friends are able to say that their loved one is still with them. However, none of this would be possible without YOU!

In the past year, I watched as my best friend had his liveliness stripped away from him by cancer. His routine chemotherapy treatments left him lethargic and feeling isolated. Nevertheless, he has battled like a warrior and has made an enormous amount of progress. Seeing him fight with courage has left me teeming with passion and determined to make a difference. When approached about Students of the Year, I immediately knew it was something I had to do.
